How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6800088 / W11200218 Grease

Replace parts that I order from parts pro. This is not the first time that I repair it, save money do it yourself. 

Removed top cover and found the problem pretty quickly. Ordered new part, cleaned old grease, inspected other parts for wear, re-greased all moving parts and re-assembled. Tested to see if I could stop the unit under power, but could not. It was tested the next day mixing 10 cups of flour for Foccaccia. No problems, Sucess! 

I took the cover off and saw that the worm gear was striped. So I went on line to Appliance Parts Pros and looked up the part that I needed. I saw that if you ordered the part today it will be shipped out today. So I ordered the worm gear and some new grease for the gear box. The next day I received my order which I was shocked. This mixer gets used everyday for making pizza dough. I had the mixer fixed in no time. I would highly recommend this company for my parts again. Appliance Parts Pros Thanks for the great service. 

Disassembled mixer, found stripped worm gear and ordered part after using Appliance Parts Pro schematics for the mixer. Ordered part and recommended new grease. (I received the next afternoon, incredible delivery service.) Cleaned old grease out to remove any metal particles and reassembled mixer. Very simple, uncomplicated repair. I purchased a snap-ring pliers set to make the job easier. That and a Phillips screwdriver were all the tools I needed. 

Easily opened the case and found the worm gear was stripped. Cleaned everything, replaced the gear, packed it with grease, and closed it back up. Works better now than when it was brand new.

There was an excellent YouTube video that took me step by step through the repair so I was able to remove the old grease and pu in new grease. 

Replaced beveled gear, worm gear and grease 

Disassembled upper housing, removed old grease, replaced with new grease and a new gasket. My wife says it is quieter than before the repair and she is ecstatic to have her mixer back in service. Remove the beauty ring, remove rear cover where the cord enters the housing, remove all the screws on the underside releasing the upper cover, take the cover off. Remember where the one screw with the lock washer goes back. Remove all the old grease and all the oily residue. Wipe as much old grease and oil as you can. You will need several rags to be thrown away as you soil them. 1 large t shirt should do it. Replace as much new grease around the planetary gears as equal to the amount you removed. Replace the gasket. Line up the gears and replace the top cover and screws. Wipe a small amount on the gear driving the stem that rotates the paddles and beaters. Replace the screws and beauty ring, replace all the underside screws and rear cover. Clean the entire mixer with a household cleaner, viola you're done.
