How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008281 / WP3387747 Dryer Heating Element

I did have a way of testing each part, so I replaced each item that was related to the heating. 

Used a multi meter to test heating element. Discovered that heating element not working. Followed instructions from several DIY videos, bought the original OEM replacement part from AppliancePartspros.com. Test, remove broken part and replace with new part took approximately 1 hour. 

Turned circuit breaker off. Remove the front lower panel (2 screws). Pulled 2 plugin wires from the heater. Removed front support for the heater housing (2 screws). Removed 1 screw locking the heater into the housing, pulled heater out of housing, Installed new heater into housing and repeated removal steps in reverse order. Turned on the circuit breaker and tested dryer operation. DONE Tools used 1/4 socket on 1/4" drive with a universal. 

Super easy too fix. Remove bottom front panel from dryer removed guard covering heating element and twist out housing that stores element. 

Accessed the heater box through the front cover below the door. Use an ohmmeter to test the continuity of the heating element. Unplugged the wiring and removed the heater box. You have to twist the box to release it from the duct on the back of the machine. One screw held the element in place. Pulled element out and slid the new one in. 

We ordered a dryer heating element from Appliance Parts Pros. My nephew took the old part out, tested it and found it bad. I got online and ordered the part. Part arrived in about 3 days and my nephew replaced it. The dryer works fine now. 

Watched youtube video replaced the two most common parts. Once I found a video for my model it was pretty easy. Ultimately it was the heating element that was bad, warped and the coil was broken. The website was great for the info to determine what was probably wrong

Watched guides for troubleshooting the no heat issues. Easy to follow and saved me a ton from buying a new dryer. Verified the resistance on the dryer fuse and secondly on the heating element to confirm the issue.
