How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4101301 / 74011142 Oven Door Hinge (Left Side)

Installed new hinges. 

Removed lower draw from stove. Removed oven door from hinges, by grabbing on both sides of the door with it at the first stop point, and pulling up,and off. Located the 2 hinge mounting screws, and removed the lower ones on both sides as I replaced both hinges. The hinges don't come in a set, and are the same hinges for both sides. I then tried to figure out how I would grab the old hinges to get it out. Reached under, and could feel the hinges, but wasn't confident about removing it, and getting the new one in. Looked underneath, and saw the way the side purses were made, and figured out that if I pull my jenn-air glass top slide-in stove out around 12 inches the spring should be within reach. Removed the top screw, and pulled the old springs out, and installed the new ones. Easy as pie! Was worried about the seal, but that was fine. Was pricing new stoves, but no need to now, and saved myself $2500. Don't know what year the stove is, but I know I can still get parts for it here. 

Replaced both the oven door hinges. 

Had to take the side panel off halfway to sneak the old hinge out and replaced that with a new one. The hinge only had two screws so that was easy. I had to take two screws off the front to lift the glass top off. Flipped it over and easily replaced the old element with a new one. 

Replaced the hinges which fixed the leaking problem. Hinges were a little pricey, but did the job. 

Spring had broken (off). Had to order whole hinge with spring. Replaced hinge assembly. Assembly/installation requires tapping of screw hole in new assembly which should be sent with new self tapping replacement screws and instructions for installation. Great 3-day delivery. Great availability of phone support. Installation required clamps and careful re-use of old self-tapping screws. Have pics.

Nging out the hinges and springs I noticed the stove door was not closing completely. After I installed the new hinges and springs the door shuts completely. I am sure this is why the first fix did not last over 3 years. 

Received new hinges in 3 days. Took 30 minutes to change them out in the 12 year old Jen Air Model JES975AAW slide in electric range. Since I had the door off, I spent another hour taking it apart and cleaning the door glass on both sides. Looks and operates again like a new one. 

I changed the hinges. A very easy fix. The oven works now and does not over heat the control panel and turn off.
