How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007826 / WP31940001 Oven Bake Igniter

Local appliance service man fixed it 

Replaced with new igniter 

I got on you tube and figured out that I needed a new igniter. I'm a 62 year old grandma, but I ordered the part, got on you tube again when it came, it showed me exactly what to do, and I feel pretty proud to have fixed the problem myself! The oven works just like it did new. 

Observed the igniter did not light. Removed the igniter and checked for continuity. Igniter was bad so ordered and installed new igniter which worked. 

Replaced oven igniter 

Replaced the igniter. Pretty easy job! Took out storage drawer from bottom of oven. Once drawer was out, had to loosen two screws to remove sheet metal cover over igniter wiring. There was a plug connector on the end of the igniter which I unplugged. I then opened the oven door and removed the bottom pan by pulling it forward and lifting out, exposing the burner and igniter. Three phillips head screws held the igniter bracket in place. Once igniter assembly was out, I had to pull the igniter out of the mounting bracket and slide the new igniter into the bracket. Reinstalled igniter assembly in oven, plugged igniter connector together, put all covers, drawers, pans back on. Turned on the oven and it worked great! 

We bought the igniter and very easily got to the one in the oven. We replaced old igniter for the new in probably 15 minutes. It was really easy and not dangerous at all. 

Replace igniter 

I bought a replacement Oven Bake Igniter and installed it with the help of a neighbor. 

I watched the video on how to take the old part out and put the new part in, right off of the appliance parts pros website! They had trouble shooting for my oven and my part number in stock. They showed diagrams and everything. I found it very easy. All I had to do was turn the oven off by unplugging it and shutting the gas valve off. Then I had to take out three screws and unclip the old part, clip in the new part and put my screws back. Plug my oven back in and turn the gas valve on. The oven started heating up in less than a minute :)
