How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5801669 / W10629033 Inverter Board

Replaced inverter board after the folks at APP emailed me the service manual for my unit. Repair took 10 min and unit works great. Thanks APP! 

Removed the defective inverter and installed the new one I bought from you guys. 

It was simple to fix. The old invertor box was held in by one screw on the bottom left side. Once the screw was removed the the old box easily slid out. The green wire needed a socket set to remove the bolt and the other wires just pulled apart. Once the old box was out all that needed to be done was to reattach the new wires and they all just snap into place. 

I completely replaced the grayish greenish plastic box next to the compressor aka the inverter.The hardest part was getting the prongs underneath the black box on the left side of the compressor. I used a flat head screwdriver to open it by prying it. There is actually a tab on too and hinge like mechanism on bottom. It still closes up if the tab snaps off. You will need a flashlight also.Its very dark in there. 

I checked the inverter/transformer and it had power coming in but only 150 volts going out (should have been 240v out). I replaced the inverter (which came very quickly - 2 days) and everything worked when I installed it. Save me tons of money over calling in a technician. 

The inverter box had some burnt circuits. There was a burned area noticeable on the outside of the box (light brown) and it smelled like burnt wires. Replaced it with the new one and it worked fine. Got some replacement bins and all the parts were perfect replacements. The delivery was a few days. All in all it was a perfect fix thanks to the appliance parts pros. I would definitely rely on on them for all my appliance repairs. 

My KitchenAid refrigerator is about 22 years old, I noticed everything was working except for the compressor and the refrigerator and freezer were getting warm. I replaced the inverter board that is on the side of the compressor, it was very easy to replace. Everything is working excellent and I actually think the refrigerator is working better. I took a chance and I bought the Inverter board and got lucky. I feel it could’ve been something major but if you’re handy you might want to replace it before you call a refrigeration repair. Always remember to blow your coils out periodically, this really helps. Keep your refrigerator compressor cool. I feel very rarely does a compressor go out, it’s usually something electrical. Hope this helps Also, due next day shipping, it came to my house within 24 hours It’s worth it.
