How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5999602 / W10862259 Door Latch Assembly

First I went to AppliancePartsPro.com and searched my part by model number. Next watched the short "how to" video. The ordered parts arrived in a few days. The replacement part fit precisely. My wife was very happy. 

I removed inside cover from Dishwasher, Located latch and removed electrical couplings then replaced with new Latch. Discovered old latch had actually had hinge bars loose and not able to re secure. Placed cover back on washer re srewed securely and closed door and checked working order it worked like a dream. 

My best friend has cancer, she is doing great and on the road to recovery. I got a call from her, she had broken the latch on her dishwasher. I went over and took a look at it, neither one of us had ever attempted to work a dishwasher before. I got all the info, model #, etc. Ordered the part from you, it came right on time, was easy to install, and worked like a charm. 

Open the circuit breaker to the dishwasher, fully open the door, remove a few screws (need torx bit set), shift the inner cover out of the way, unplug the electric switches, reverse steps to install the new assembly. 

Per video - took 10 minutes. Work like new now. 

Ordered new door latch assembly from APA. Note make sure to inspect old latch assembly to see if you need just the just the latch or latch with handle. In ny case I needed both latch and handle because the handle was cracked on one side. Very easy to install. 

When the dishwasher latch breaks while the door is closed, it's really closed. After a half hour of attempts to open it, I started to panic. My wife will be home soon and I don't want her to yell at me because I'm crying about my favorite beer glass being locked inside. I got lucky when it eventually popped open after it saw my giant pry bar and power saw. The star shaped screw driver I never get to use came in handy to remove eleven screws on the back of the door. Now I'm seeing the bad latch. And my beer glass. Make and model number in hand,I found Appliance Parts Pros online, watched a repair video,ordered the part,answered the door and took the part from delivery guy,grabbed my glass,filled it,part out,part in,close door,turn on,drink beer.Easy. 

Replaced the door latch. Very simple. Removed the inner door panel, unplugged the door latch and replaced with a new one. Very easy do it your self job.
