Gene, the best place to turn off power to the dishwasher is going to be at the breaker box. This way you can ensure that when using a flat head screwdriver to manually unlock the latch, there is no electricity running through it and nothing could be damaged by any current being suddenly and improperly stopped.

Hello Scott. These wires pull off the latch. Sometimes these get stuck on the spades. You can use a flat blade screwdriver to help pry them off. Just make sure you have the power off before replacing this part.
