How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010584 / WP691581 Door Switch Lever

I replaced the dryer actuator with the part I received and my dryer works great again. 

Since the door latch broke off and disappeared, I did not think it was the typical door-closed-microswitch. I thought the switch was connected to the cables that yank the door closed. I chatted with tech support, THEY WERE OPEN ON A SUNDAY NIGHT! They told me the proper location of the switch and they were correct. After I removed the old switch, I could see the latch that presses against the door was broken off and missing. Ordered a new latch, it arrived a few days later, replaced and done! Thanks to Suzanne at tech support!! 

Simply replaced the part. I only needed a visual determination. 

Removed old one and installed new one. 

I replaced the dryer thermal fuse and that solved the problem. I also replaced the other parts as a preventative measure. Everything fit perfectly, thank you again Appliance Parts Pros! 

Ordered new switch part, removed old part with screwdriver, replaced with new part. It took only about 5 minutes to replace. 

Replaced the bracket holding the switch. The old bracket had broken the switch activator leg. 

A little harder than one would think to install but if you come this far you’ll get it. I recommend taping the bracket slightly to the switch during install so it doesn't slide around while you screw it down. 

Replaced it. 

Installed new lever on switch assy.
