How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094500 / 285671 Lid Switch Assembly

Used AppliancePartsPros.com video to help with disassembly of washer case to change switch. Worked out great, replaced the new switch quickly. 

Replaced lid switch. Solved the drain problem allowed washer to complete cycle. Replaced agitator dogs to restore action in first stage of wash. 

We purchased a new switch from Appliance Pros! We went to work on replacing the old switch at approximately 11:05am Saturday morning. We were done in 25 minutes. It was a breeze. EASY FIX--THANK YOU !!!!! Since we have a Kenmore top loading washer, we contacted Sears who were of little help. They pushed a service call that would result in a charge of $200.-300. !!!! Outrageous by any standard. Thought I should just get a new washer since mine is 21 years old--but performs like new. We then saw AppliancePartsPros.com online and explored their website. I watched the step by step video and changed to lid switch. I did have to watch the video several times, but I finally got the switch changed. The technician in the video is very professional. I will not hesitate to order from Appliance Parts Pros again. A big plus is I received a gift card for wine in the shipment. Thank you Appliance Parts Pros! 

Very easy! Remove 2 screws holding down control panel housing. Lift panel up. Disconnect plug for switch. Lift lid and lift from backside under lid pull forward to remove complete outer shell of washer. Pry out plug end from shell. Remove 2 screws holding in switch. Remove wiring from 2 factory prongs. Installation is reverse order. Takes about 20 minutes. 

Took the washer body apart. 

Watching internet videos on how to replace the lid switch assembly made this replacement a breeze. I just followed the videos and even though the washers were not exactly the same, they were close enough to tell me everything I needed to know to disassemble the washer, replace the switch, and reassemble the washer. This was the first problem we've ever had with our 22+ year old Kenmore. I almost purchased spare screws and clips "just in case" but there was no need. I was able to use all the original fasteners so the switch ended up being all I needed.
