How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3119799 / 8183851 Microwave Vent Grill

Well, I gotta say I was happy to find you still had parts for almost 20 year old microwaves. The microwave itself worked fine, so I hated to have to buy a new one, but I just couldn't take being hit in the head anymore; and my fix of using string and wire to tie it to the surrounding cabinets was unsightly to say the least. I'm glad I did some research and found this part - all I had to do was pop it in place and now the vent grill is secure. Problem solved with minimal cost. 

Bought new grill, installed it in 47 seconds and all is well. ordered part at 3 in the afternoon and it was on porch in less than 16 hours. How do you do that? Is someone riding around in trucks waiting to deliver my order? 

The grill cover only took me needing to remove 2 screws, taking off the damaged piece and replacing it with the new part I ordered. The charcoal filters and grill covers for them just simply needed to be removed and replaced. No tools needed for that part of the project. 

Ordered parts I needed for the microwave via appliancepartspro.com. Parts came within 3 days. I installed them within 20 min. 

The replacement part fit perfectly. 

I ordered the part, removed the broken vent cover, and easily snapped in the new vent cover and screwed in the 2 screws to finish the job.

Removed two screws at the top of the microwave, pull grill out. The tabs on the original grill were almost all broken so it just basically was falling out all of the time anyway. Insert the new grill by its tabs at the bottom first and tilt so the tabs at the top fit in their slots. Insert the two screws again at the top and all is well. This replacement part has additional metal reinforcement where the screws attach so I was happy about that since that was where the main failures occurred. 

Ordered a new one and installed it 

Purchased new part from appliancepartsproscom which I received 22 hours after ordering (thanks you). Installation was very simple.removed two screws and reinstalled with new grill. Total time less that 5 minutes.
