Greg, If the fan motor is getting power to it and not turning and shows a infinite resistance then the fan you received is bad.

I have Jenn-Air Side-by-Side. The Refrigerator side is not staying very cold. The freezer size had ice build up at the bottom, which I cleaned all out, which seemed to help the fresh food temperature. Within a week a huge ice buildup at bottom of freezer again & some water at bottom of refrigerator. There is also a lot of water on the floor underneath the unit. I took back panel off in freezer and there was alot of ice built up around the coils and above on wiring on copper lines. Defrosted, now just waiting to see what happens. Any suggestions as to what part needs replacing?

First let me say I'm a huge fan of this site and would recommend it to anyone. I had problems with my dryer and stove in the past and watching your "how to" videos and buying the parts through this site saved me a lot of money not having to call a repair man. That said I have yet another problem. My refrigerator has side by side doors. The freezer works just fine. You can feel the cold air moving around. The fridge on the other hand isn't. After reading most comments on your site I'm assuming it's the motor to the evaporator fan (W10128551) but the fan starts and stops after a few seconds. Also makes a loud noise when it's trying to start. Since the fan is trying to start and gets cut off I'm not sure if that's the problem. Any feedback is appreciated. Customer for life, Nick

Chris T. for Model Number Jenn Air Mod JSD2695KES

My evaporator fan quit working, no frost build-up on coils, compressor works normally and bottom of freezer and fresh food side are quite cold - but upper portions warm. The fan bearings are fine, the motor 'looks' and smells fine - no evidence of arcing or burning. Closed freezer door switch and waited several minutes - compressor continued to run but the fan never came on. My Question - is the fan motor bad? Or is there something controlling the fan motor that has gone bad? Can I remove the fan motor and power it with 110v and see if it comes on? Thanks, Chris

Hello Chris, The voltage to the fan motor WPW10128551 can be checked at the terminals to the fan motor. The voltage should read 120Vac. If the voltage is there, the fan motor has failed. If the voltage is not there, you will need to check the output from the main control board W10207411.

Brian, The evaporator fan motor would most likely not be the issue with the refrigerator. With the unit freezing in the refrigerator compartment the most likely issue would be the control damper WP12571701.

Hello George, What you want to check on unit is the defrost thermostat WP67003426, heater W10825088 and control board WPW10503278. Check continuity on the defrost bi metal and heater. If no continuity on either one then you would need to replaced that component. If everything checks ok then you will need to replaced control board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Dan, You need to remove the back wall of the freezer compartment and look at the frost pattern. If the evaporator fan motor isn't running or is running too slowly, the fan motor WPW10128551 will require replacement. If the fan is running and starts back up on its' own after you stop the blade, the problem is probably a defrost issue. The most likely cause of the issue if there is a frost build-up and the fan motor is operating normally is the defrost thermostat WPW10165425. It should read continuity when the part is down to temperature. If it reads good, the defrost heater WP12729128 could have burned out or the electronic control WPW10503278 may have an issue.

Hi Joshua, since you were able to make it defrost manually, that would indicate your heater and defrost thermostat are working so I would suspect the control board WPW10503278. Hope this helps!
