How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5984477 / W10815709 Dishwasher Circulation Pump And Motor Assembly

I replaced the motor, which includes the chopper assembly. The chopper screen was plugged up, so there was some kind of failure in it’s operation. The extra tool required is a compression ring pliers I bought for Pex tube plumbing. That is how the new motor plumbs in. 

I replaced the pump motor and pump. Problem solved. 

Diagnosed with one of your videos online, ordered new pump and replaced as in video. works great! Be aware you need to have pinch clamp pliers or a suitable substitute to install. 

Changed out the pump 

I found the AppliancePartsPros.com video online that showed that steps to replace a circulation pump on their website. The process did not look like it was outside my skill set, so I ordered the new pump through the website. It arrived a few days later and I set about to fixing it. Following the easy to follow steps of the video, I was able to get my dishwasher unplugged, disconnected, and out of its spot and onto its back for easy access. Removal of the old pump revealed instantly that the part was compromised. I put the new pump in without much problem - I did need to borrow some crimping pliers from a plumber to crimp the hose ring. Put everything back in place, plugged it in, and reconnected the water. The machine is working perfectly. 

I watched appliancepartspros videos /symptoms tips to help diagnose the issue so helpful and spot on! Then I watched the video of how to remove and replace the circulation motor and it was perfect and I knew I could do it myself! I literally watched the video and did the repair. 

Turned off the water to my dishwasher, Unhooked the water line, pulled the dishwasher out, and placed it on its side. took off the old pump and put in the new pump then hooked back up the water line, turned on the water, and tested and my dishwasher was fixed whole thing took about 30 min. 

Replaced it with new pump. 

Uninstalled dishwasher. I removed the defective one and installed the new Pump-Motor. Reinstalled dishwasher.
