How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6039091 / W11032770 Dishwasher Pump And Motor Assembly

I looked for some online and on the website and it was just the washer pump that wasn't burnt out. I'll just switch. 

Replaced Circulation Pump and Motor Assembly 

Tested to insure power was sent to pump during wash cycles. Watched videos on how to replace pump. Replaced pump. Dishwasher is back to good health! 

Followed on line video. Project time was long because the screws that attach the dishwasher to the cabinet had the slots rounded out. I had to drill the heads off the screws (and replace) to remove the dishwasher. 

Used the videos to determine what the most likely culprit was. When I knew it was letting water in and pumping it out but not cycling, I ordered the pump from AppliancePartsPros. Shipping was delayed because of supply line issues but customer service reached out immediately and made sure I was kept up to date. Pulled the dishwasher out of the cabinet, followed the replacement video, and had it back in the cabinet in under an hour. I ran a test cycle while it was still out of the cabinet to check for leaks. As always, great videos and excellent customer service. 

Replaced sump, diverter motor & pump motor. Then cleared the drain tube. Be prepared to replace pump motor hose clamps on older models....mine is 2015. And be careful using the door to maneuver the machine from under the cabinet. DIY videos, parts info, and phone support are all excellent! 

I ordered the correct part from Appliance Parts Pros on a Saturday afternoon and received the pump by Tuesday afternoon. I installed the pump in about 20 min after figuring a few things out and had it back up and running. The dishwasher is a KitchenAid and is only 5 years old. New pump cost $250, vs. spending another $800-$1000 on a new dishwasher!

My wife notice the arms inside the dishwasher were not engaging. I could hear the water coming into the dishwasher and the water draining, but the unit would only make a clicking sound when trying to engage washing. I unplugged and removed the hoses from the dishwasher being careful to have a wet/dry vac because some water would come out of the hoses. Then I removed the dishwasher and turned it on its back to look for the pump. Once I removed the sump pump, I ordered a new one and replaced the pump. Reconnected the hoses and plugged the dishwasher back in and the dishwasher worked. 

I first noticed the problem when I pulled dirty dishes out of the dishwasher after I thought I had run it. I set it to run again and noticed that it made some noises when it started filling up with water, but then went silent when normally you could hear the water spraying inside. I did some research online to find on a forum that my model has a pump motor which will typically poop out after 3 years and can be replaced with a part from this website. I watched the YouTube video demonstrating the motor replacement and it seemed straightforward enough. I ordered the part along with a new grommet and the dishwasher cleaner. Everything arrived and I was able to replace the motor without issue. Everything is back to normal.
