Richard L Spring , TX January 22, 2018 Kitchenaid dishwasher pump froze up. It was a pretty simple plug & play replacement, Hardest part was disconnecting the dishwasher to pull it out of the cabinet to get to the underside. A beginner can do it. I spent less than $125 on motor/pump versus buying a new dishwasher for over a $1,200...a simple ROI decision for about an 1 hour of my time. Read More... Keith M Belmont , MI January 20, 2018 Appliance: KitchenAid Undercounter Dishwasher KUDI01ILWH6 Washing machine was noisy not cleaning dishes well in the upper rack Replaced circulation motor, and cleaned the chopper. Followed directions online. The biggest effort is removing and reinstalling the dishwasher. This can be a real chore. Wear gloves or you will get cut on the metal dishwasher frame (very sharp edges). Motor was difficult to remove. Just didn't want to come out. Took 10 to 15 minutes of working at it. New one went in really easily. Getting at the chopper is not a problem. The supply tube was snapped to the interior in at two places and required no tools for complete removal. Lower spray arm removal was tricky. Be careful when reinstalling, as it is easy to damage threads in spray arm. Chopper area was filled with toothpicks, cherry pits, glass shards and other debris. Took 20 minutes to thoroughly clean. Runs much better now. I am sure water flow was greatly restricted. No motor noise now. Just water cleaning Read More... Jacob P Santa Clarita , CA December 17, 2017 Appliance: KitchenAid Undercounter Dishwasher KUDW03CTSS3 Dishwasher was making loud grinding noises while running In a previous attempt to fix the problem, I had (prompted by the informational videos on this site) accessed and cleaned out the chopper assembly from the interior of the dishwasher. I removed some debris, but this didn't help the problem. I finally (again following the helpful videos on this site) removed the dishwasher completely and inspected the motor. I noticed a small pile of metal dust and a sand-like substance under the motor. From the reviews on this site and other sources, I concluded that it was the motor bearings that had failed and were causing the loud grinding noise. An online chat with one of the tech support staff on this site helped to confirm this theory and answered some other questions. I ordered a new motor and chopper (which had a broken inner seal and therefore wasn't seating securely), which arrived right on schedule. Replacing the motor went pretty smoothly, although I had some difficulty installing the new motor due to the tight fit and stiff seals. The dishwasher now runs much quieter and I haven't seen any evidence of leaks or other problems. Success! Read More...
