How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6015940 / WPW10159107 Turntable Motor (Microwave)

Replaced turntable motor. After a trip to buy the special screwdriver head needed to remove 2 screws on the microwave frame, the repair was fairly easy. 

Ordered a replacement motor-turn. After a seven minute repair, the microwave was as good as new. 

Removed m/w from cabinet and removed metal spacer mounting stands to gain access to bottom of m/w. Turned m/w upside down. Removed and left off the metal plate (cut tabs) covering the motor. Removed motor mounting screw and electrical plug, installed new motor back in same place with screw and electrical plug. Right sided the m/w, plugged in to test. Reinstalled mounting stands and inserted back into cabinet. 

I removed the part, went to your website and very easily found the replacement part. The part arrived the very next day. I installed it and put everything back and the microwave works perfectly. I was just so happy at how easy it was to get the part through your website. 

Had to remove microwave from area it was mounted into, after that removal of motor was easy. Access panel was on bottom of microwave which made replacing bad motor with new replacement motor. 

The microwave was mounted inside a cabinet so I had to take the front surrounding cover off and the mounting brackets.Once I unplugged the power and took the microwave out, the installation of the new motor was easy. I turned the microwave upside down and had to snip some metal pieces on the bottom of the microwave to get the plate off to see the old motor. i slipped the connections off, took out two screws and replaced the motor. The plate went back on easily and the whole job took about 30 minutes. 

Replaced motor and turntable support 

Unscrewed the cover plate. Removed microwave from wall. Removed bottom cover plate to access turntable motor. Removed tt motor and determined internal non-serviceable gears were stripped. Ordered new motor from Appliance Pros and reversed the procedure. 

I ordered the "Motor-Turn", and installed it. No written instructions were required. We observed how the pieces fit together as we took it apart. We did have to purchase a special screw driver. Happy to save a few dollars.
