This microwave turntable motor mounts beneath the oven floor and spins the glass tray to help food heat evenly. Replacing a worn motor restores smooth, reliable rotation when the tray stalls, jerks, or makes unusual noises.

  • Drives the turntable via the center coupler beneath the cavity floor
  • Promotes even cooking by keeping the tray rotating during operation
  • Common failure symptoms: tray not turning, intermittent/jerky movement, humming or grinding noise from below
  • Helps correct stalling under normal load when the original motor is weak or seized
What's included: 1 turntable motor Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker; microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a dangerous charge
  • Typically accessed from the bottom of the microwave; remove the bottom cover to reach the motor
  • Move wire connectors to the new motor in the same orientation and secure with original hardware
  • Ensure the coupler and roller ring are properly seated; test rotation with a cup of water on the tray

For Whirlpool Turntable Motor (Microwave) (Part Number: OEM18047829)

Mrs. Smith. For the heating issue you will want to check the continuity of the thermostat on the magnetron and make sure that there is continuity. ALso check the magnetron for less than 1 ohm of resistance. If higher then the magnetron is faulty and would need to be replaced. As for the motors you inquired about, they are the same motor.

A few weeks ago I removed the micro from the cabinet temporarily (did not do anything to micro) and when I put it back in the cabinet the turntable would not work. I tried to slide the roller wheel (8205151) and glass tray coupler off the shaft but feared I would break it so did not pull very hard. After messing with it I turned the micro on and the turntable turned a few degrees and stopped. Could never repeat this so I am back to where I started: turntable does not turn. Is the motor assembly a gear motor and maybe the gear box is messed up? Or maybe the motor itself is going bad (it "tried" to turn)? I have not attempted to remove the bottom cover to look at the motor. I am thinking maybe I'll just order a new motor. Any thoughts?

Bruce, The turntable motor is a low voltage (21 VAC) high torque geared motor. There are several reasons the motor could fail. Since the motor tried to turn it's most likely a failure in the gears or motor itself. The support can be tight and a little difficult to remove, you can slip a cloth between the cavity base and the support twist the cloth and pull up on it to remove the support.

Hello Rob, YOu will need to remove base plate of unit in order to replace the turn table motor WPW10159107. There would be screws around the perimeter bottom that hold the base plate in place. Once off you would disconnect the turntable motor and remove and reinstall new part.

My microwave did not have the correct turn table (glass) inside when I purchased my home last year and so it would not turn. I have replaced it with part#8205150 which is definately the correct turn table. It still will not turn - I am looking at the turn table support, part#8205151 - this is the part inside my microwave. On this part where it goes inside it's respective place inside the microwave - it just goes in place but I feel like it should be sort of "plugging" into place. I just put it into the hole and the portion that touches my turn table glass has a tiny - tiny finger that touchesthe glass - the rollers are capable of rolling as now I can push the turn table 'round and 'round but it will not turn by itself. What could be the problem? Could it be that what ever this turn table support is supposed to be connecting with when placed inside - it is not connecting? I will lokk forward to your help and I do appreciate it. Thank You

Hello Sheila, You will want to check to make sure that you are getting power to the turntable motor WPW10159107, which is most likely the problem. You should have 21vac to the motor. If you are getting power to the motor then the motor is burnt out and wil have to be replaced.
