How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6015267 / WPW10117655 Push To Start Switch

The dryer door switch was broken as was the push to start switch. I ordered both parts, watched the videos, and switched out old for new parts. The dryer switch door original part took some time to remove; however, once removed all was easy to replace. Thank you for your instructional videos. They are extremely helpful! I also saved money from repairing myself. I will definitely recommend your website to others. 

Replaced the thermal fuse and the push-to-start switch. 

I replaced the push start button, that didn't fix it. The true issue was the door switch that triggers the dryer to shut off the dryer when the door is open. The switch is barely noticeable so when you open this particular dryer check for extra play on the black plastic tab using your finger to push it. It should only click and then spring back if it's still good. Mine didn't click or spring back. Replacement took 5-10mins. 

Removed old switch, installed new switch. During this process the locking tab on the new switch broke off. To complete the repair had to thread a screw through an existing open space in the sheet metal behind and above switch where the locking tab should be located in order to fasten and stabilize the switch in place. Currently appears to be functioning OK. The plastic locking tab is very brittle and will not take any bending adjustment, it will break if you try, and you will be in the same situation as I found myself in. The locking tab is necessary and must be intact to lock the switch in place. 

Changed thermal fuse. 

Replaced switch. 

Replaced the start swtich. A few screws to remove the metal cover on the back. A flat bladed screw driver to release the plastic clip on the existing switch and install the new one. Probably took 5 min. 

I ordered both the on/off switch and thermal fuse. As I wasn't sure which was the problem. The thermal fuse was the issue and the installation was as easy as it gets. Literally, 5 minutes start to finish. The "how-to" videos associated with the repair are always helpful. In addition, the 62% likelihood of it being the problem was accurate. I just installed the new start switch as well as it was inexpensive and couldn't hurt. 

My Dryer failed to turn on and I used the online diagnostic page for common problems for my dryer model. I wasn’t sure which items to purchase but the first two suggestions were for the Thermal Fuse or Switch button. I purchased both! The videos were very helpful and thorough in explanation of how to perform the repairs! I used the three day option for shipping but received my parts the very next day! It literally took my husband and I less than ten minutes to replace both the Thermal Fuse and the Switch button and whichever part it was, the problem was fixed! With shipping, $99 was worth not paying a repair man or buying a new appliance altogether.
