Rebeccah February 07, 2021 for Model Number WED4815EW1 My timer won't advance. I have changed the timer and all 4 thermostats.
1 Answer Rebecca, if the timer is not advancing in the automatic setting, the orange wire going from the timer to the hi-limit thermostat on the heater would need to be tested for continuity when the power supply cord is unplugged. If it does not have continuity, it has a break in it that is preventing it from advancing and the harness W10704067 would need to be replaced if the break can not be located. Read More...
James Shelton December 24, 2019 for Model Number Maytag Centennial mod MEDC300BW0 I want to replace the start push button switch Maytag Centennial dryer mod MEDC300BW0. However, my switch is 3 prong - 2 blue & 1 black/orange. It appears the replacement part is 4 prong. Please advise
1 Answer James, If you look at the switch there should be numbers by the terminals. You would essentially connect the wiring from the old switch to the new using the numbers as the place to put the wires. Read More...
Steve C December 18, 2019 for Model Number Kenmore 110.62342511 Dryer will work maybe 5 times in a row. Then won't turn on and no light in drum. Move the dryer around a bit, and it comes on. May work for entire load or even 2 or 3 loads. Next time the start button does nothing and the light is not on until you move the dryer around. Any ideas? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Steve, sounds like there is a loose wire in the dryer. Start by turning off power and check the rear terminal block for loose wires/terminals. If ok take the rear control panel off and do same check, if ok you will need to take top and front cabinet panels and do same check on cabinet wiring. Read More...
Hal June 25, 2019 for Model Number Whirlpoool dryer WED4800XQ1 push to start switch AP6015267 How do I test the 4-terminal switch for continuity? I have seen the simple 2-terminal videos for testing switches but haven't found one for the 4 terminal switch.
1 Answer Hal, to test the push to start switch to see if it will engage, you will need to test the two terminals that have the light blue wires attached. These terminals should be the ones closest to the push button of the switch. While pushing the start button in, you would test these two terminals for continuity, and if there is no continuity with the button pushed in, then the push to start switch has failed. Read More...
Terry Jones November 16, 2018 for Model Number MEDC300XW0 When I try to turn on the dryer by pushing the start button, I hear a ticking noise but the dryer doesn't tumble. Is the push button part defective?
1 Answer Terry, The push to start switch isn't the likely problem. You may want to start at the thermal fuse located on the blower housing. If the fuse opens, the motor wont start or run. The "ticking" noise is a bit confusing, but you may want to inspect the electronic control board to see if it has damaged or discolored contacts, circuits or components and wires. Read More...
Nick April 26, 2018 for Model Number WED4800xq3 I think my switch is bad but not certain. Once I set the timer and push down on the switch it doesn't turn on or even make a sound like it is attempting to turn on. At this point I manually moved the timer to off and can hear the switch click to the "off" position. Is this a switch issue? Thanks
1 Answer Nick, You will want to check the door switch and the thermal fuse to make sure that they have continuity. These would be the most likely causes of the unit not running. Read More...
Rick January 07, 2017 for Model Number MEDC300XW0 Dryer won't start. I checked dryer door switch and both thermo fuses. Now I'm at the push button start switch. Theres a 3 prong plug, a 2 blue wire (12 & 3 o'clock) and a red wire. when ohming plug do you test 2 blue wire terminals? If so, I did that and got a open, then pushed button in and got a .3 ohm reading. Thinking bad switch if testing right terminals.
1 Answer Hello Rick, The push-to-start switch sounds like it is testing good. It should show only the resistance of the meter leads when the button is pressed. I would check the door switch WP3406107 and the centrifugal switfch in the motor assembly 279827 if the thermal fuse WP3392519 is good. Read More...

Louis March 09, 2016 for Model Number not sure maytag electric dryer How do you test a 4 prong starter switch?
1 Answer Hello Louis. You test for continuity when you press the switch. It should close. If so, it is good. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
