How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6017831 / WPW10251051 Adjuster

Checked the Maytag parts list and found the best value for my money was AppliancePartsPros.com. Ordered them and received the parts faster than expected. One torx wrench and 15 minutrs later my dishwasher was ready for battle again. 

Upon investigation I found cracks in the carriage adjusters. Ordered both sides. Discovered the Maytag dishwasher uses Whirlpool parts. So ordered complete new factory replacements. My biggest problem was thinking it would be a complicated repair and that the online videos didn't quite match my unit which came into play right away when removing the rack from the appliance. Being an essentially snap out-snap in (only 3 small star drive screws to remove and reuse). SO.. 1. snap off the roller stops. 2. Pull out the rack. 3. Turn over the rack so the bottom is up. 4. Remove the 3 screws on one side. snap off the cover. 5. Snap out the old carriage. Replace and reverse the procedure. The roller stop caps were made so the part is not side specific. That's it in a nutshell. Really is simple as long as you look at it that way. 

Replaced the adjuster arms. 

Purchased replacement parts from Appliance Parts Pros. Received parts very quickly. Removed broken components and replaced with new. Required a Torx screwdriver to remove and replace. 

Replaced these parts in just a few minutes and it works like new. 

Replaced adjuster assembly. 

We have a 75 lb. boxer/lab mix that decided to help empty the dishwasher. We found him on the couch with the top dish rack hooked on his collar. Both adjusters were destroyed. I ordered the parts from AppliancePartsPros using standard delivery. I was surprised to find the parts were delivered 2 days after I ordered! I, maybe the most inept mechanical person on earth, was able to take the adjusters apart, paying close attention to the order in which they came off and fixed them in about 35 minutes. I left the door pulley system to my husband because of electrical and plumbing steps. After he got everything taken apart, replacing the parts were easy enough. It was the taking apart and putting back together that was most time consuming. But now, with 132.00 in parts, it's all fixed. I don't even want to know what a service call would have cost.
