How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094149 / 279408 Rear Drum Felt Seal With Adhesive

I went on the website and watched the youtube video that explained how to fix the problem. All the appliance stores in the area did not have the part, but this website did. They sent the part REALLY quickly standard shipping and was the exact part I needed. Sears parts did not even have the part anymore. I was really satisfied with this site and would highly recommend this site to anyone. 

Trouble shot to a bad motor 

Just followed the video instructions. Saved me a lot of time. I thought the dryer had to be serviced from the back not the front. Saved me a lot of time, effort and swear words! 

Took it apart and researched what was wrong with it. We had already replaced the belt so we knew how to take it apart. When it was apart we noticed that the drum was not aligning with the front and rear areas where they seal. after removing the drum we noticed that the rear seal was worn out and the two drum rollers were not operating properly. One was wallowed out where the bearing surface was gone and the other one was barely turning. It was almost stuck. We ordered the parts by 2:00 pm and we had them by 12 noon the next day. Unbelievable. We were expecting a little longer than the 1.7 day average quoted on your web site. Thank you and I will be using you for any appliance parts needs. I will also recommend you to anyone that needs parts in the future. 

Replaced the motor and rear drum seal. Also replaced the roller set, the cycling thermostat, and fabricated new foam seals since I was already deep in the machine. I also thoroughly cleaned the vent duct to the roof to ensure all my bases were covered. Hardest part of the process, was waiting for the rear seal adhesive to set up. Small inconvenience considering I now have a like new 20 plus year old dryer. 

Replaced seal, and also the dryer belt while I was in there. 

With the parts ordered 

Got the right parts in about three days, watched a YouTube video, and went to work. 

Replace the felt drum seal, which held in the correct amount of heat for longer period of time. I had to clean off the old epoxy that retain the old felt, the new felt supplied epoxy to mount the new felt, and there was a drying time as well before I could reinstall. These kenmore dryers can last forever given the parts still available online. 

This is a 34-year-old Kenmore that the original belt finally failed, amazing. So I ordered a new belt, rollers, tensioner, and rear drum seal knowing they should be replaced. Rear seal was worn of course, rollers were worn down some but still working but while inside everything was replaced using the videos which are very well done making the project very easy to do. Thank you to for such a great company that also has the fastest shipping ever, I ordered the parts on Thursday afternoon, and they arrived Friday, What an excellent company.
