How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010158 / WP63134 Sound Dampening Ring

Washer is a Kenmore Series 80 Heavy Duty with direct drive. Disassembled the washer by removing tub, motor and transmission. Replaced suspension pads and tub suspension pads. Made sure all moving parts were aligned properly. Replaced noise dampening ring. Found corrosion damage on tub shaft. Cleaned with rust remover and sanded down to get a smooth surface. Replaced tub gasket due to damage from corrosion. Cleaned build-up from all parts. Put everything back together and releveled the machine with the adjustable feet. Vibration still present during spin cycle, but significantly damper, quieter and no walking. 

I replaced the Direct Drive Motor coupling. And while I was at it, I replaced the sound dampening ring as it had broken as well. The fixes took around 45 minutes each and the washer is running great. I would not have known the best way to disassemble the washer if it were not for the great videos this site had on the repairs. 

Ordered and installed new suspension springs. We are on a fixed income and depend on Appliance Parts Pro for just about all our appliance repair needs. This time however it took several replays of repair video to see how the washer cabinet has to hook on front of base. Understand that videos can not apply to each model especially on a 24 year old washer. Washer is operating smoothly. Thank you appliancepartspros.com !
