Tosh August 08, 2020 for Model Number LSQ9244EQ0 I have Whirlpool Washing Machine Model No: LSQ9244EQ0. The problem is that when it spins, it makes a lot of noise. Also, while it's spinning, I can tell that it's coming from beneath the washtub *I checked the Motor Coupling. They were still intact. *I replaced the Agitator Coupling. *I don't think that it's the Bearings because there's no noise when I spin it manually. *The Springs are intact. *I'm pretty sure that there's no blockage due to coins or lint. After doing all of those tests and more research, I figured that something must be wrong with the belt. However, I came across another post elsewhere that said that this washing machine doesn't have a belt. So, if it doesn't have a belt, then is there something similar, that could be causing all of that noise? Update: could it be the clutch or a damaged sound dampening ring?
1 Answer Tosh, It could be the drive coupling between the motor and gearcase if one or more of the drive tabs get bent or cracked they can make noise. Since the noise is down "under the tub" yes, the clutch and the brake shoes could be making noise, but wouldn't worry about the foam dampening ring. Check the drain pump to make sure there are no obstructions or small articles rubbing against the drain impeller. Lastly, the tub support bearings can make noise after many years of use, we wouldn't think that would be the issue at this point. Thanks, Read More...
Rochelle March 15, 2019 for Model Number LSQ8000LQ1 My washer stopped in the middle of a load. It did not spin or drain. We replaced the lid switch and checked the coupler. The sound deadening ring is broken but I don't think that's the cause. I'm just not sure what else to try. Help
1 Answer Rochelle, you may want to check if the basket will rotate clockwise by hand to see if the basket has seized up. From there, when in a drain/spin selection, you may want to check to see if the motor is receiving 120VAC from the timer by testing the blue wire at the motor. If the motor is not receiving voltage, and the lid switch is verified good and being engaged by the lid, then you will want to replace the timer [WP3953553]. Read More...
Moshe September 07, 2017 for Model Number MVWC6ESWW0 Is it possible for a twisted sound dampening ring to be the cause of a rubbing noise? Thank you
1 Answer Moshe, No the sound dampening ring would not cause a rubbing noise on the unit. Read More...
Rebecca July 05, 2015 for Model Number lsr8444lq0 My washer suddenly stopped spinning. It drains and I can hear the motor running when it's in the spin cycle but the agitator won't move. When I looked under the machine, the sound dampening ring was broken and one end hanging off. Why won't it spin anymore at all? Do I need a new clutch assembly, or the medium cam agitator repair kit?
1 Answer Hello Rebecca, The most common cause of your symptom is the motor coupler 285753A. Read More...
Janet January 18, 2014 for Model Number 3SWTW5205SQ0 When machine is spinning, it is noisy AND it is rotating from left to right. Moving round. Seems as if unbalanced, something is broken inside? Maybe the load was unbalanced and not rectify when horrible noise starts. Or it was using while it was overloaded? What can the matter be? Where do I look to solve the problem. It works fine for a couple of months and out of a sudden the noise and moving started!
1 Answer Hello Janet. You need to check and see if the suspension spring WPW10250667 is broken and needs to be replaced. Read More...
Dlittle April 11, 2013 for Model Number wtw5300sq3 Can a washer work properly without the dampening ring, besides the noise?
Pat February 08, 2013 for Model Number RAB5232EW1 Can hear machine running but will not wash or spin, it will fill with water and pump water out.
1 Answer Hello Pat, You will want to check the motor coupling 285753A on the unit. The motor coupling allows the unit to agitate and spin and if broken will do neither. Read More...
James February 27, 2012 for Model Number LSR8244DQ0 Should the sound dampening ring be somewhat taught? Mine doesn't seem show excessive wear as it isn't shiney or frayed. However, it is twisted out of shape and does not sit very taught. In fact it seems very loose so that it will slide up and down freely without much of an effort. Could there be another cause for a loud high speed spin cycle? My machine performs a complete cycle but the high speed spin at the end seems rather loud and I think that I can detect that there is some slight rubbing of the tub. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello James. If it is a bearing noise, you will need to replace the tub support 280184. If the noise is more of a knocking noise, check and make sure the drive block WP389140 is not bad or broke. Hope this helps. Read More...
Chad August 16, 2011 for Model Number RAX7245KQ0 Does the dampening ring have anything to do with the spin cycle? My washer will go through all of the washing process, but stops at the spin cycle, leaving the clothes and all the water inside. After draining, I noticed the dampening ring seemed frayed, and actually broke off. Is this my problem with the spin cycle, or do I need a another part? Thanks!!!
1 Answer Hello Chad. No, the dampening ring WP63134 will not prevent the unit from spinning. You will need to check the lid switch 3949247V and see if it is broke or bad. If so, it will prevent the unit from spinning and draining the water. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Audrey V. June 20, 2011 for Model Number la5300xp My washer makes a loud continual humming noise while agitating only.
1 Answer Hi Audry. If under your washer there is oil on the floor or gear case(transmission) then the gear case shaft seal is bad and you will need to replace the gear case part #389245. If you find the motor is noisy, then the motor part #is [AP2905451}. I hope this helps.Thank you. Read More...
