How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3873614 / 280140 Drum Seal

Replaced drum seal. Wish I had gotten both the front and back as the front was where I had noticed the problem but the rear seal is not far from failing also. Watched the video. Looked easier than it actually was. Drum kept slipping off of the back ledge and the front ledge was impossible to put in place without a helper because of the tension from the drum belt. All in all job took just over an hour to completion from start time counting the time for the cement to dry. 

Watched attached Video that walked through every step of the process. The guy in the video made it look so easy and I'll be honest I could not have done it alone. I had my twin 16 year old boy's help me with keeping the seal in place while applying the provided sealent and especially when putting the dryer drum belt back on. Getting the Belt back on was definitely the hardest part of the entire repair in my opinion. just a recommendation though, if you need one Dryer Drum Felt Seal you probably need two. I ended up resealing the other Felt Seal with left over sealant but I wish I had replaced both them in retrospect.

My husband had to replace the heating element in my dryer. Upon disassembling it, he noticed the rear seal on the drum was partially worn completely down. The glue sets fast so be ready to work fast. Next day shipping was well worth the money - being without a dryer for a week with a family of five was insanity!

I replaced the drum seal that had started to tear. When I took the dryer apart I realized that the excessive noise was because of a bad drum roller so I made a second purchase from AppliancePartsPros to fix that as well. My suggestion is to watch the very helpful videos that come with the part you’re ordering and take the dryer apart first to see if you may need anything else and order one time. 

My elderly parents needed this part and it is hard to get locally per the repairman as it is very common to break many times in the life of this dryer. We ordered it online, got it the next day and the repairman put it in that evening. (Maybe the local repairmen should try ordering from you and get their clients repairs done more quickly!!!) Mom got their laundry done before Dad went into the hospital for 4 days for cancer surgery. Thank you for your prompt service and quick delivery! AppliancePartsPros was a real blessing to us!! Replaced both drum seals. Also replaced idler roller and drum support rollers. Wanted to replace drive belt but belt in repair kit was undersized. I used existing belt this dryer is 10 years old was hoping to get another 5 plus years 

Ordered 2 new drum seals and adhesive from Appliance Pros and followed the installation instructions. Went very well and my wife and I completed the installation in about 45 minutes. We saved a bundle from having to have someone come and fix it. The parts were here in 2 days which was great. Overall we are very thankful to Appliance Pros.
