How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5737110 / W10612022 Felt Drum Seal

I replaced the rollers and the idler pulley. I also replaced the dryer drum belt and the felt drum seal. Replacement of the seal was the most difficult and time consuming part of the project. 

Repaired it myself after watching an online video! 

Replaced roller wheels, idler wheel, belt, the felt bearing, front drum plastic bearing. Also cleaned and vacuumed the inside of drawer. 

Replaced the motor. Put in a new belt, rollers and felt seal while I had it apart. 

New seal 

Disassembled per video then discovered that the drum support wheels were worn and jammed, plus the drum front seal excessively worn, and rear fabric "gasket" mostly gone. Changed drive belt at same time, since that would be next to fail, most likely. Runs great now. The hardest part surprised me...was gluing the rear drum fabric gasket strip onto the drum. 

We replaced the felt drum seal, the dryer belt, idler pulley and dryer rear drum support. 

I replaced the rear drum support wheels. I also replace the felt strip and the belt since i had the unit apart 

Found pulley broken in two and belt broken. Took opportunity to replace rear drum seal and support wheels (which had been ordered previously but not installed.) Video on YouTube is excellent. A couple of things that were not on the video that might help: 1) Take the opportunity to clean the old rubber wheel crud off of the drum to eliminate thumping. 2) Found an old cotter key puller tool is excellent to slip behind the drum and help position the seal edge properly. 

Replaced the two drier idler rollers, tensioner, drive belt, felt drum seal and front bearing ring. The most time consuming part to replace was the felt drum seal. Removing the old seal, scraping the old glue off, and preparing the drum edge for the new seal took about 1.5 hours. I recommend wearing old clothes, disposable rubber gloves, several rags for cleanup, and an additional person to help install the new felt seal after the glue is applied. The glue is crazy sticky and works very well, but it can get messy.
