How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008371 / WP339956 Lint Screen Housing Foam Seal

Never thought I would be repairing major appliances, but Appliance Part Pro's made it easy. Diagnosis, parts list and how to videos. I saved hundreds. thanks guys. 

Followed videos on website for all parts . All repairs were fairly simple. Vacuumed out dryer interior. Put it all back together and tried it out. Was a little noisy at first but once everything lined back up it was as quiet as day one. This dryer is 16 years old. Hopefully it will last a lot longer! 

I took all of the old one off and put the new one on and now the dryer is drying my clothes really good 

Took the dryer down for a lack of full heat,, noticed the cabinet and flue piping was full of lint, took all the parts off and cleaned everything, I believe it was "leaking" heat around these gaskets. Easy to install the gaskets and I have the dryer back together. Jury is still out on total drying now till the wife uses the dryer, but I think it'll be OK. Best part of the whole deal was the shipping time, got the parts very fast. 

Once the issue was determined, replacing the fusible link was just a couple of minutes. I decided to take on some the maintenance items of this 12 years old dryer, IE the belt, Foam seal and felt drum seal. It was not hard to do but I wish I would have done a dry fit on the Felt Drum seal to practice getting it perfect (it was a tight fit and required some stretching). It turned out well but had a little clean up of the adhesive. Thanks for the YouTube videos 

Changed motor and blower fan. Had to chisel off blower fan as shown on video other wise would have just needed motor. Also changed seal as they were crumbling. 

After watching your videos, I found my thermal fuse blew I then took the dryer apart and cleaned out the lint vent and found the front bearing was worn. I then ordered the new parts and was surprised when they arrived the very next day. It took me about 30-40 minutes to put the dryer back together and it now works perfectly. Thank you for your service and very quick delivery

After noticing the brown marks on the clothing I proceeded to inspect the dryer. It was easy to see that the felt ring at the back of the drum had deteriorated completely and was letting the drum rub on back of dryer removing the paint. It was also collecting dirt around the same ring. Upon taking apart the dryer, I decided to replace the front plastic bearing rings, the drums felt ring on back, a new belt, rollers, lint chute gasket, blower housing gasket, and also repaint the back of the dryer and the inside of the drum. I easily found and purchased all parts including paint on this site. After sanding, complete dryer cleaning, repainting, and installing all new parts the dryer works good as new with no more marks! I ended up taking it completely apart. i,m now the patron of the local laudramat. next paycheck i' get the new seals and re assemble this old dryer. The chute blower seal,rear seal,blower to motor shaft seal and drive belt were bad. This will be a much needed fix.
