How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009858 / WP6-3129480 Dryer Drum Roller Axle

By replacing the belt, the idler pully, the drum support rollers and the support bearing kit. I figured while I had it tore apart I would replace all of the wear parts because my dryer is probably 15 years old or more .I watched a video on you tube which made the job easy. 

Open the dryer up to determine which parts are broken or worn out. In this case, one of the drum support rollers was worn out. We ordered two since we already had the dryer tore down. 

I installed new drum support rollers along with new axles that the rollers fit onto. 

I can't thank you enough for the "How To" videos for each part!!! Your videos gave me the confidence I needed to tackle the "dryer repair project" I thought I needed the Idler Pulley Arm but didn't know if I needed a new belt tension pulley also. With determination, I took the dryer apart and found that we had a very rusty drum support roller and axle that squealed when I turned it by hand. I was able to easily put the dryer back together, order the correct parts I needed and then install them when they arrived. To think we almost bought a new dryer! I have told many people about your great website and videos!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!! : ) 

Ordered non OEM parts from amazon. Roller bearings came apart 2 belts that were 2 different sizes. Order the OEM, save time, money and problems. The amazon stuff fell apart in 2 weeks literally. It looked just like original but garbage. The stuff from here worked flawlessly. I know my dryer inside and out now due to replacing parts twice. Glad I ordered from here, wish I had done it first. 

Replaced both drum support rollers and corresponding axles. 

I replaced both the rear drum rollers and while I was at it, replaced the belt. Following the video made the job much easier. My biggest problem was getting the belt in place on the tension roller, etc. I found you can run your right arm under the drum to reach it and made the job much easier. I am not mechanically inclined and really felt good about being able to do this myself. It took longer than it should because I had to do the job over because I did not get the belt in place the first time. 

Replaced the drum rollers and axles. Also installed a new belt. and tension pulley. 

I installed new drum roller axles, new drum rollers, a new idler pulley wheel, and finally a new drum belt. I had checked out how to make the repairs on YouTube so took less than one hour to do everything. The drum roller axle on the right side was the only thing that took a bit to break loose. Even with that, it took less than an hour. The first problem with this dryer in 27 years old. 

Great. Everything fit and went back easy. Had to study how to get felt on but figured that out. Thank you for the easy to get parts. The wife can’t believe how quite it is now. Thank you so much.
