How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094543 / 285809 Washer Short Cam Agitator Repair Kit

After reviewing some YouTube videos I was clear that my issue was most likely the agitator. I ordered a new one and BINGO!!! Great customer service from these guys and the part came next day which helped a bunch. 

Replaced the agitator cams. Using the cam repair kit. I also replaced the inner cap seal while it was exposed. It is not necessary to remove the lower half of the agitator. The top half will slide off the bottom section. 

I guessed it was worn or disintegrated dogs. I have replaced them before. I decided to replace the kit. The thrust spacer was also worn almost flat and the bolt and washer were rusted and disintegrated. The inner cap O-ring was cut. The videos were very useful. 

It didnt advance to agitate in normal or casual cycle. But did in the delicate cycle. Normal and casual are the 2 cycles Ive used for the last 22 yrs. Since the one cycle worked completely I knew it wasnt the lid switch, the dogs, or the motor coupler. So I changed the timer. I changed the dogs just because and the seal on the agitator nut cover was hard so I changed that. Everything works great and took less then 30 min. I appreciate your videos. I had never changed a timer before. Hopefully it will be good for another 20+ years. This 60 yr old female isnt giving up my direct drive old washer yet. As long as I can repair it I will. 

Installed cam agitator repair kit into agitator. The only issue was a cap inside the agitator that had accumulated softener residue and was not easy to remove. I decided that it could be replaced if I broke it and a good yank resolved the issue. There was no damage to the cap. The rest was easy and exactly as shown in the video. 

Installed short cam agitator repair kit. 

Removed upper agitator and replaced the agitator dogs. Very easy. 

I originally thought the dogs had worn out. However the root cause was the rusting of the attachment bolt to the lower portion of the agitator. This caused this part to wobble and ultimately widen the attachment hole to the point that I could lift the upper agitator without removing the bolt. Fix: - I ordered this part, new screw with washer, new thrust washer, and new dogs (they were quite worn). Works great. Maintenance: - Going forward, I'm going to remove, clean and check every year. It's a simple check - I bought spare of everything - I think the total is around $23. Time: The fix took around 20 min. However it took a few hours to trouble shoot. General: I'm relatively handy, yet I have a tendency to parts in upside-down or fix the symptom and not the problem - Your support video was great...and you might include, "if the upper portion just comes off without removing the bolt, there is something else damaged" - In the thrust washer video, it would be nice if you made a point of 'this side up' All said, I'm extremely pleased with your support and delivery. You now have a committed customer. 

My washer drum started hitting the internal sides making a ton of noise. The problem was gradual then became unbearable. I was almost to the point to replace the washer but found a couple of youtube videos in which I was able to quickly troubleshoot the issue finding that the suspension rod springs needed to be replaced. I have no experience with wash machine maintenance but following the AppliancePartsPros.com installation video it only took me about 20 minutes to replace all 4 springs and most of that time was me cleaning hard-to-get areas once I had the machine open. It literally takes only a screwdriver to complete the replacement. On a scale of 1-10 difficulty this task is a 1. I ordered the parts for next-day delivery and had no issues and the parts were delivered via FedEx by 2 pm the next day. I ordered over the phone and their customer service team identified the right parts I needed and they only needed the model number which they helped me locate on the machine. I will definitely use them again if I have any future appliance issues. The machine is operating so smoothly now no noise at all and I dont dred washing clothes anymore. Thanks a ton! 

Due to some unfortunate mishap, the dogs and spacer washer were missing from the washer. Using the videos provided for each part, it was very to replace the cam agitator, dogs, and spacer washer. Now, the washer is working as designed again. Really appreciate the videos.
