How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013482 / WP8574157 Dishwasher Door Strike

Installed a new strike. 

Once I found the part number within two days my machine was up and running again. 

We were getting power/lights to the button console, but when we tried to start it, we'd get nothing - no sound or water or anything. We actually called a repair guy who told us we needed to replace the strike and door latch. He told us his supplier had a ridiculous markup, so we thanked him for the info and sent him on his way. Parts came quickly and we removed the door cover and electrical panel in order to access the plastic latch and replace it. That part was super easy. Then we needed to remove the dishwasher from the cabinet to access the strike and had some trouble because ours actually wasn't screwed in on the side under the round plastic caps like the repair guy told us. Turned out we just had to unscrew the top prongs and then lower the dishwasher a tad to get it to slide out. Replaced the strike in about 5 seconds and then just put it all back together. VOILA! It works perfectly and even with the repair guy's service fee, it only cost like $150. 

I replaced the latch and the striker plate. You need a torx bit to take out the screws 

Replaced the door latch. Did not even need any tools to replace the latch. It was a very easy fix. 

Original strike was bent when one door return cable broke so door was closed crooked bending the strike. Tried to straighten it but door would still pop open. Replaced it problem fixed.
