How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011291 / WP7403P239-60 Infinite Switch Top Burner Control Switch

I replaced the controls for the large burners. 

On Maytag range I removed back panel of the range, top far left and right screws next to light, other screws holding the side panel of face plate, and the two screws behind the burner adjustment knob. Keep track of where these screws go. After I reassembled the entire unit I was left with two screws. Pulled away the face plate to get at the problem switch. One by one I pulled each wire from the defective unit and reinstalled it on the new switch. Replaced the switch to the face plate with the two screws then reassembled the entire face plate to the range and the back to the range. Works fine now, but hopefully the two screws left out was not essential. 

Replaced switch (after watching How-To Video). Most time consuming part was removing the 3 pieces of sheet metal on back of stove & then fitting them back on. All went well. Replacing switch was straightforward. 

Replacing the switch was simple after watching the video on the part page. The instructions were spot on and the problem was resolved in a few minutes. 

Internet search to determine problem. Ordered part and replaced it. 

I troubleshot the problem using the guide on this website, identified the offending switch, and replaced the switch in about five minutes, once it arrived. I Ordered the Switch when it arrived ( less than one week later ) I pulled the stove out unplugged it Replaced the switch, And now the stove works the way it was designed to work.
