How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005886 / WP2162361 Micro Switch

Great video that helped a lot with the part replacement. My only wish would be a “trouble shooting” video that would narrow down the exact cause of the problem! I spent over $300.00 on parts that didn’t need to be replaced! The actual malfunctioning part was only $20.00. 

Replaced the micro switch. 

Checked with AppliancePartsPros and found that my control bracket could be the problem. Follow videos on how to remove and Inspect the possible part failure. Found the broken part. I ordered both the switch and bracket Just in case but did not need a switch. Installed everything back and It now works perfectly. 

Researched parts on site, identified correct parts and ordered them. Watched videos associated with each part. Parts received as advertised and repair went as video suggested. 

Watched the video from APP. Opened front of refrigerator, saw what parts were missing, broken and epoxied in then ordered parts. Parts came in 2 days, installed and refrigerator now dispenses ice. 

Son went to your website and followed video to take area apart. Micro switch was not working. We ordered parts to arrive overnight. He then fixed it. Water and ice dispense now. 

Replaced faulty micro switch with new OEM switch. Plastic pins that held the spacer and switch in place broke off when removing the old switch, probably because the fridge was about 10 yrs old and the plastic was brittle. Super glued the pins back on and installed a new switch. Put face plate back on the door and done. The dispenser is working fine again. Appliance repairman estimated $200 to fix- I did it for $26 and change including shipping. 

Replaced switch on ice dispenser paddle. 

Thanks to your youtube video, I determined that the problem could be either the dispenser lever retainer or the micro switch. Because neither were that expensive and I had to remove the front cover to install both, I elected to buy both. I received the retainer very quickly but have not installed it yet b/c I don't want to remove the cover more than once. I am still awaiting the switch and have not been notified when it might arrive. 

I replaced the micro switch and water inlet valve.
