How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005886 / WP2162361 Micro Switch

Turns out the bracket that holds the micro switches broke. Since I was already in there I replaced both micro switches for good measure. The whole job took maybe ten minutes. 

Watched video provided by AppliancePartsPros.com on what to do with bracket and microswitch and did the same to the fridge. Everything went very well. Videos are awesome. Thank you for the assistance and parts. Made job real easy. 

Replaced the auger motor and microswitch. 

Replaced micro switch and back plate. 

I removed and replaced the ice maker assembly. The video helped immensely with the replacement as I had no idea where to begin to remove it. 

Now that I have time to spend during this stay home mandate, I started to look for things to do. Its been two years since the ice dispenser on my fridge worked, so I'm used to just open the freezer and get the ice from there. The boss (My demanding other half) says, "can we get another fridge" and I said to give me a minute to see what is wrong . Watching you DIY,, I went ahead and order the microswitch since my brain said, " it got to be the switch". the switch came, open the dispenser area just to find out it was the holder of the switch that's broke, so back to the computer and order the holder. The boss asked if I fixed it and I said "I'm still waiting for the parts (i blame you guys, sorry, I have to live with this woman). Long story short, part came, follow DIY, fixed it in less than 30 min and she is happy and I am still the knight and shinning armor. THE END. BTW Thank you very much. The DIY been a very big help. 

First Ice then water. After messaging your support, and not wanting to spend a lot to fix, It was recommended we replace the switches. Once I took the cover off, I noticed the bracket holding the Ice switch in place was broken, which I have just ordered. Water is working again. This should fix the ice when I get it. Using you saved me hundreds of dollars. 

I replaced both the ice delivery switch and the water switch. 

I ordered the parts (microswitch/bracket) and installed them according to your very detailed you tube tutor. 

After changing the filter, the valve, the switch and the bracket. It came to be the face panel, controls all the items water, ice and all. The only problem is the new face panel is black, not white which that's the color of my refrigerator is white. So I guess I will paint it to match my refrigerator. When I ordered the part it did not give a color option.
