How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012717 / WP8304452 Oven Thermal Fuse

My Kitchenaid combo slide-in oven (KEMS378SSS02) weighs 230 pounds, and the fuse is located in the back. I bought 4 RV leveling jacks and placed under a scrap 30"x48" 3/4" plywood surface I bolted to the cabinet wall on end to stabilize lateral movement, 3/4" below the bottom of the oven. I removed the oven door and 4 mounting screws, and using five cut pieces 30" long of 1/2" EMT conduit as rollers, I flipped off the breaker, and pulled the oven out of the wall. Using the APP website, I located the part and removed the top back oven panel to access the part. After replacing the part, I flipped on the breaker to test...all good and shut back off. I reassembled and rolled the oven back into place. 

After doing some online research and reading what others had posted regarding similar problems, I ordered the fuse from AppliancePartsPro.com. Shipping was extremely fast, (2 days), replaced the bad fuse with the new one and the oven is back to working properly again. The repair was easy to complete. Saved a lot of money by doing the repair myself. 

Diagnosed with a voa multimeter. Fuse was read open. Replaced fuse. i used the technical information document in side cabinet. Troubleshooting all possibilities of failure with multimeter using the document which supplied the proper readings. This item was rushed to me as I had replaced it once before 

Ordered new thermal switch from AppliancePartsPros.com. 

Followed the directions from a YouTube video and replaced the fuse ourselves. 

I replaced the thermal fuse. Pulled the oven out of the cabinet, removed the rear panel and top panel. Found the fuse. It was a fairly easy job. I didn't need to remove the rear panel but didn't know that. Just remove the top panel. Locate the fuse -- It's on the back left inside a small recess. Pull the cables off gently. Have a medium size (6"-8") Philips screwdriver to reach the fuse - two screws. Replace the cables, attach the panel -- actually had a moment with this. The sheet metal got bent on a hanging screw near the front of the oven. Had to bend it straight with some pliers. Place the oven back into the cabinet, put the door on, screws, and flip the breaker back on. It heated up right away. 

Installed a new thermal fuse. I found the correct part on Appliance Parts Pro's web site. The install information came from the same website and YouTube. It now works fine again.
