How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008309 / WP3390719 Dryer Thermal Fuse

I had to tear apart a lot more on my dryer then the "pros" in these videos do. I'm a mechanic, so it wasn't that big of a deal. Ohmed out all switches and fuses. Ended up being my heater coil open. Since I had the whole dryer torn apart I replaced all the temp sensors and fuses along with the coil. Dryer works like new now. Saved about 800$ not buying a new dryer. 

Replaced the thermal fuse. First had to learn how to test the fuse with a multi meter (using a YouTube video). That was necessary to determine that the part was faulty. Replacing the fuse solved the problem. 

I watched several YouTube videos to find out how to test electrical components for the dryer, then I watched the videos associated with the parts that were needed from Appliance Parts Pros.com. This is a great web site because they listed the parts associated with the dryer, showed a video for how to install each part, then checked for the compatibility of each part for my specific dryer. I ordered the parts, then happily received them in two days! Running the diagnostics for the parts and disassembling the cabinet was the most challenging part of the repair. Once the parts were received and installed, reassembling the cabinet was easier. A couple of thoughts here: one, I was impressed with the quality of my old dryer (manufactured in the late 1970's or early 1980's); and, two; how impressed I was with Appliance Parts Pros because they stocked the parts and had an incredibly integrated method to identify the correct parts and ship them in two days! My wife thinks that I'm a genius, but it was really attributed to the help and ease of Appliance Parts Pros and YouTube. 

The front lower panel comes off with a couple snaps at the top Remove part of the metal ductwork inside to access and replace the operating thermostat. Four wires and two screws. Easy fix! 

Looked up possibilities on what the problem was. AppliancePartsPros.com had good information to believe it was the fuse. So after seeing the great, informative video of how to locate and change, I started to open up the front of the dryer. When I uncovered front of dryer I also noticed the belt had busted. I ordered both parts from AppliancePartsPros.com and was able to change the fuse and belt without a problem. 

I INSTALLED THE THERMAL FUSE AND DRYER THERMISTER. 

I watched a couple videos on line. I took off front of dryer, and found fuse and gas valve. Used my meter and found no current going through fuse. Located book that came with dryer. Called and ordered fuse from you folks. Lady I spoke with was very nice. Part came next day. Installed it and dryer came back to life. YEA Even an old squirrel can find a nut in the snow sometimes 

Order thermal fuse, still not start called in on Saturday and talked to a tech, then checked door switch, not working. I order new switch,......also instructions on this web site more information on how to do than Whirlpool and seats site 

Replaced the Thermal Fuse. 

Replace coils on gas valve. This is usually the case on gas dryers with this symptom.
