How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008309 / WP3390719 Dryer Thermal Fuse

Followed the CLEAR steps in the Dryer's Service Manual to determine which component was bad (the Thermal Fuse) and then followed the steps to replace it. The only unexpected issue was the need to prop-up the drum (from falling out after the face holding it was removed to get access to the burner area below) while waiting for the ordered part to arrive .... the manual didn't alert me to that need (a few fat books did the trick).

I watched 2 video's on what may be wrong and how to test for the problems .Tested all systems required by the video's and ordered the parts. I received the parts within 2 days installed them and my dryer hasn't dried this fast in years. Of course I had to take the whole dryer apart, but in doing this I was able to completely clean all the built up dust, dirt etc. All of this was made simple by the video's. 

Replaced thermistor, thermal cutoff and heating element in about 15-20 minutes.

Watched your how to videos ordered my parts and the rest is history, easily done. 

We checked the voltage on the thermal fuse and it did not read correctly, indicating a blown fuse. Ordered the part and received it the next day. Replaced the part which was a simple click in, replace screw and attached to housing. Checked to see if it worked, it did. Reassembled the front dryer panel and done. Less than 15 minutes to replace and reassemble. It took longer to verify that part was the problem. But if you start there, it wouldn't take any longer than replacing the part did.

I watched a Utube video on this and saw the problem was easily analyzed. I had never worked on an appliance, but the video helped. My drier wasn't exactly like the video, so it took a little time to find the area I needed to get to. Once located, the parts I needed were easily accessible and only testing with an ohm meter was required. I needed to replace the heat sensor and thermistor because of lint build up. I went ahead and replaced the igniter while there, as it seemed to be a part that might wear out. I ordered the parts here and received them in a timely manner (they were shipped the same day, even thow it was in the middle of the afternoon when I placed the order). The parts were easily found on the Website and I used PayPal to pay for my order. Thanks for the help. 

Went to your websight and found probable causes and replaced all the little parts suggested. They were extremely easy to find and with your help extremely easy to fix. Just watched your vidios. Took my time and actually enjoyed in home repair. Best thing I could have done.
