How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008309 / WP3390719 Thermal Fuse (Disposable, One Time Fuse)

Watched the video which explained the problem perfectly. The thermal fuse arrived the next day! Very happy with Appliance Parts Pros. Terry 

I went on the Appliance Parts Pros website and researched issues related to this model of the dryer as to what may cause the dryer not to start. The thermal fuse and dryer door switch were the most likely causes. I purchased them both. The repair videos did not match my dryer model but were closed enough that I knew what I needed to do to make the repair. The dryer door needed to be removed and the old switch removed. I have a pigtail disconnect. so it was easy to remove. I had to remove the rubber covering from the old switch and stick it on the new switch. I also needed to cut the wires off the old switch and crimp the wire ends onto the wires. The new wire connectors come with the switch kit. The dryer thermal fuse was on top of the white plastic fan housing lying horizontally at the base of the dryer. When the dryer door and the dryer vent housing going down from the drum to the fan housing was removed I had access to the thermal fuse. Two 1/4" hex screws held the thermal fuse in. Fairly easy to remove with 1/4" socket although I had to lie down to reach. Once these parts were installed and the door put back on, the dryer turned on without a problem. 

My Kenmore dryer has stopped running after it was overheated. So, I tested the fuses and I found out that a THERMAL FUSE is not reading the right resistance. All other fuses are fine except that part. I did order a part from Appliance Parts Pros to be delivered for next day. It came a little bit late because of the FEDEX delivery person. Soon as I received it, I did replace the part in a timely matter. So far so good, it did work and we kept the dryer going for its normal use. I do thank Appliance Parts Pros for their prompt service and response. Until next time! 

Replaced coils. Working now. 

Replaced the thermal fuse and cleared the vent of lint. 

Replaced the heating element. 

Repair parts from appliancepartspros. Dryer Heating Element and Thermal Cut-Off Kit. Did not use Thermal Fuse (disposable, One Time Fuse). 

Replaced the part and fixed the issue. Received replacement part in record time as promised. 

Remove back and replace the thermal fuse. 

Replaced it with a new one.
