How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008309 / WP3390719 Thermal Fuse (Disposable, One Time Fuse)

Replaced the thermal fuse.

Thermal fuse and new high temp thermostat fixed the problem. 

Took the dryer apart and used an Ohm meter to check all the common failure spots. The thermal fuse showed no continuity so that was it. I ordered a lot of the other common failure parts while I was at it to combine shipping and so that we won't have to wait a few days next time something goes out. Also blew out the dryer vent. I used an electric leaf blower and a towel to make it fit without gaps as our dryer is in the center of the house and the vent pipe is too long to clear with a brush. A lot of lint blew outside so that was where the blockage was that caused the fuse to trip. I guess there's a chance the leaf blower will tear the vent pipe connections apart but so far so good on that. 

After watching DIY repair videos. I determined the most likely problem was a one time thermal fuse. I tested the original fuse and found it was defective. I ordered a replacement and was soon back in service. AppliancePartsPros made it easier because they have exploded diagrams which showed the exact location of the suspected part. Kudos! 

Thanks to the helpful videos and repair advice on appliancepartspros.com, I started with the easiest (and cheapest) possible. I tested and replaced the thermal fuse and a foam seal that was leaking lint out of the exhaust shaft. I saved a service call and probably fixed it faster. I had a great experience using this website...including getting the parts delivered very quickly. I am super satisfied with my experience. 

Took out the bad one and replaced it with the one I ordered from Appliancepartspros.com 

Replaced fuses. Longest part is taking the dryer apart to get to them. 

Looked up my problem on Google. Saw how to fix it. Looked up the part on google. Ordered incorrect part. Appliance Pros. replaced the incorrect part at no cost to me except for faster shipping. They were very accommodating. Will use them again.*****
