How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013514 / WP8577274 Dryer Thermistor

Watched youtube on how to fix a heat issue went real good, Change thermal fuse, and thermistor. Back In Shape Thanks To Appliance Pros They Had All The Parts I Needed. Many Times I Come To There Web Sight To Order Parts They Have Them All ! 

Through an ancient troubleshooting guide I found stuffed up in the control panel, I was able to test and prove that the thermal fuse was bad. I also changed the thermistor at the same time. Dryer powered up fine, I tested the thermistor for proper function as well as the relay in the heater box, all checked fine and we are happily drying laundry again. For another 34 years??? 

It was Christmas Eve. No, thats not true. It was late April but there's never a good time for your clothes dryer to stop working. It just made a clicking sound, no tumble, no heat, no nothing. Appliance Parts Pros got me a new pair of moisture sensors, a new thermal fuse & thermistor the NEXT day but that didn't do the trick. A new circuit board was more of an investment but still a fourth of what a new appliance would cost so I ordered one up & again APP got it to me NEXT DAY! It worked! Hallelujah, back in business. Great parts fast. Thats what you want. 

Replaced thermal fuse and thermistor. 

Opened the back panel. Replaced the blown fuse and thermister. Removed/cleaned the lint vents and cleared a drywall screw lodged under the blower fan. Everything seems to be working good now. The cleaning was the longest part of the repair but was vital. Parts arrived quickly (within 2 days). 

By changing defective parts. 

I was able to order a new fuse and thermistor and replacing those fixed it. Also did a thorough cleaning while I had everything open. On my model the fuse was in the front, not the back, so it was a bit harder to get at than just opening up the back. 

Replacing the old parts with the new thermal cutoff kit fixed the problem. I also cleaned out the dryer exhaust duct. The parts were the correct OEM replacements. The shipping was really fast. 

Purchased various parts that could be related to the problem and watched each of the parts' accompanying very descriptive and helpful videos that provided step by step instructions on exactly what to do. 

Took the dryer apart and used an Ohm meter to check all the common failure spots. The thermal fuse showed no continuity so that was it. I ordered a lot of the other common failure parts while I was at it to combine shipping and so that we won't have to wait a few days next time something goes out. Also blew out the dryer vent. I used an electric leaf blower and a towel to make it fit without gaps as our dryer is in the center of the house and the vent pipe is too long to clear with a brush. A lot of lint blew outside so that was where the blockage was that caused the fuse to trip. I guess there's a chance the leaf blower will tear the vent pipe connections apart but so far so good on that.
