How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6017900 / WPW10253040 Upper Dishrack Assembly

Pretty straight-forward other than the 2 racks arrived several days apart & I tried to put the 1st rack in the position of the 2nd rack. One needed some care in removing the stops holding the upper rack into guide; it required some proper application of pressure from a screw driver blade. 

I ORDERED TWO NEW DISHRACKS 

Took out old one and inserted new one 

Replaced upper rack assy. That included new spray arm. 

Replaced it with a rack from parts pros 

I had checked the Kitchenaid site and the racks didn't come in kits. You had to buy every little part and it was going to cost as much as a new machine. I decided to check around the web to see if anything else was available and I was fortunate enough to find AppliancePartsPros. These racks came in just a few days and after viewing their excellent installation videos, during the shipping time, my installation was a breeze. No assembly was required for the top rack and all I had to do on the bottom rack was snap the rollers and a couple of tine-rows in place. The whole project took me probably 20 minutes and no tools were required. Almost too easy! :) It seemed a shame to have to buy a whole new dishwasher because of the racks and now we won't have to. Thanks AppliancePartsPros! 

Replaced the upper rack. It included everything and was a snap to install. Just used a screw driver to push in tab on end cap. No other tools needed. 

Pulled the plastic stops that held the upper rack int he track and slid out the old one. The bottom rack lifts right out as nothing holds it. slid the new top rack into the rails and put the stops back in. assembled the rollers for the bottom rack per the instructions and set it in place. The colors of the new racks were not the same as the old ones but that was not a big issues and the shape and spacing of the tines were different but everything fit and works. It was simple and quick and cost a lot less than a new dishwasher.
