This was the easiest appliance repair I've ever done. Got behind the fridge and got access to where the compressor is and found this module between the wires and the compressor. There's a retaining clip that had to be unhooked, that was about the hardest part of the job. Once free, the whole module unplugs from the side of the compressor and then there's a capacitor of some sort that needs to be separated from the old part so you can put it on the new part. Fortunately that part was okay. I also went ahead and tested the compressor with a multimeter, checking for continuity between each of the 3 prongs that this piece connects to, and discontinuity between either of the prongs and the copper piping that connects to it. I plugged this new piece into it, plugged the fridge back in and everything works. One note: this part has a slimmer form factor then what I replaced, so the retaining clip is now loose. I plan to check if the vibrations are affecting the connection after some time to see if I need to go to the trouble of bending the clip.
