How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5989758 / W10853654 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve

I replaced the Water Inlet Solenoid Valve. Everything works as it should. 

Ordered a new ice maker and a new water valve. Ice maker arrived in Two days installed new ice maker. Solved problem no leaks making ice and ice bin full. Perfect. The valve arrived a few days later but I am keeping it because it is the original valve on the fridge. 

Got a new one, now all is good. 

Did research on line and figured it was valve inlet part. The helpful video you provide made me realize that it was an easy job to complete. Yes it was easy because of the video and the part was exactly what was needed. We saved money by doing it ourselves. So while we were on the order site we ordered the brackets for the front grill. The old ones snapped off a long time ago. Again helpful video on your site on how to do the replacement ourselves. We now have water pressure back and that trickle is now a forceful stream and the ice cubes are solid and I could not be happier. Thanks for the great video for self repair.

Replaced water valve. 

I woke up one night to hear water running. I found the noise coming from the refrigerator. Opened the freezer door and gallons of water spilled out onto the floor and leaked through to the basement below. After some testing, I was able to narrow it down to the electrical signal from the ice maker for the water inlet valve was coming on then off properly for the 5-10 sec fill cycle but for whatever reason it stuck open that night. I wasn't going to chance that happening again and replaced the valve with help from your instructional video and all is good now. I think the old valve was sticking in both opening and closing as our ice cubes had been getting noticeably smaller. Now we have nice full cubes again. 

Thanks to youtube video's I was able to trouble shoot the problem and discovered it was the water inlet valve. The appliancepartspro video walked me through all the stelps. Problem solved in about 15 minutes. 

Ordered a new valve and put it on in about 15 minutes and it was making ice again in a few hours.
