How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6284346 / W11165546 Water Inlet Valve

Part was exact removed and replaced in 10 minutes or so. 

Replace the water inlet valve. 

Replaced water inlet valve. When inspecting valve inlets the hot water was very dirty, cold was cleaner and I could still wash clothes on cold without getting the error. Added inlet hose screens to the washer hose to help prevent this in the future, there was not one put in when the washer was installed. 

I ordered that part from Appliance Parts and was surprised when it came within 2 days. 

Replaced with OEM part 

Googled the error code and found out it pointed to water inlet valve filter issue, but since filters are not removable, I had to order a new part. 

Replaced the water inlet valve 

Removing the old water control valve assembly and installing new part that was ordered. 

Bought used washer and it gave me one wash before dying. Error code LF so I used the diagnostic routine. Cold valve not opening. Checked the resistance and the valve coil was open unless pressed upon. I assumed a bad internal cold solder joint. Replaced valve assembly and the washer is back in service. Toughest part was releasing the spring retainer to lift the control panel. 

After checking the electrical continuity (there was none) I purchased a new water inlet valve kit. Super simple to install, removed the hood, unscrewed two bolts and unplugged the four solenoids. Then installed the new part by doing the same, in reverse. Worked immediately with no further action! Awesome, thank you!
