How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006209 / WP22001274 Washer Water Inlet Valve

We installed a new water valve. The valve took about 30 min to install. 

I repaired it myself. 

Remove damaged water valve and replaced with new 

Ordered new water value. 

Replaced water inlet valve 

Replaced valve, easy fix. 

Rep[laced the valve. Searched the net for parts. Found ApplinacePartsPro who had my part at a fair price. Ordered on Saturday and the part was delivered on Wednesday. The only snag was that faucets of my hot and cold lines were so old an unused (never closed or opened since 1996) that they presented small leaks around the stems when closed and reopened after repair. You should prepare for that possibility if you haven't turned the faucets off for a long time. 

Watched video which showed exact steps. Shut power and water off. Removed single screw holding valve assembly bracket to washer back panel. Pulled bracket with assembly out. Disconnected hot and cold water connectors to assembly. Disconnected rubber fill hose. Removed two screws holding assembly to bracket Reversed process. I think it took me longer to type this using two fingers than the procedure itself. 

Easy, no problems encountered. 

I consulted AppliancePartsPros website to learn how to diagnose the clothes washer filling problem and make sure I was ordering only the parts needed for the correct solution. I checked the intake screens and hoses for adequate water flow. I checked the voltage to confirm that electricity was getting to the valve, thereby ruling out a bad switch. I ordered the valve, replacing it by removing three screws, three hoses, two electircal connections, and one hose clamp. I reconnected everything to the new part and reused the hose clamp. Now the washer is filling properly. This is not the first time AppliancePartsPros has helped me to solve an appliance problem.
