How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006289 / WP22002360 Water Inlet Valve

Bought new part and replace with old 

After a couple of years of procrastination (I was not sure I wanted to tare the washing machine apart) I finally mustered up the courage to start the repair. Within 30 minutes, no split nuckels and no cuss words, I was done and the machine works great! To which my good and patient wife reied "It's about time." 

REPLACED THE WATER MIXING VALVE. 

I replaced the water valve and it solved the problem. I received an exact replacement in 2 days. Excellent service.
