How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6018779 / WPW10289387 Washer Water Inlet Valve

Replaced water inlet valve. 

I went to the AppliancePartsPros web site and found the problem and the fix on a video. I ordered the part that came earlier the promised. It only took my 15 minutes to remove the old part and install the new part after watching their video. 

Removed and replaced part. 

Ordered a new one and swapped it out. Super simple too! 

Described the issue to Austin. He recommended replacing the water inlet valve which was wet when I felt it. Ordered part. Replaced it. Ran three cycles and let it set over night. No leak. 

I figured out what the problem was by doing some research on the Whirlpool washer manual and YouTube. Once I knew what part I needed, (water inlet valve) I ordered it from APP.com. The part arrived sooner than I expected. I also received a separate email with a helpful step by step video. It was extremely easy and fast to replace and repair, about 10-15 minutes. Thank you so much, APP.com. I will definitely come back if I ever need anything else. And, I will make sure to recommend your company to my neighbors. 

Followed the video from the part. 20-minute fix including gathering tools and moving the machine. 

AppliancePartsPros had the part and a great video to replace it. I actually took off the entire back panel of the machine as well which helped me see and touch everything for replacement. This is about a 15 min job from start to finish if you have the part in your hand. Very easy. 

Installed the water shutoff valve and it seems to have fixed the problem with the washer 

Simple job of turning off the cold and hot water, remove top panel on washer, remove the outlet hose clamp, pull hose off of old unit, then using a Phillips screw driver, unscrew one screw and remove the solenoid valve. Install new valve reverse order of disassembly.
