How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009885 / WP6-917642 Lower Wash Arm

I've ordered parts for appliances before on AppliancePartsPros.com but I didn't remember seeing the instructional videos, and I also found it very helpful to search for parts by what problem you are seeing. Looking at what others said about poor cleaning performance led me to watch a video about something called a docking station for the upper rack. I looked in mine and sure enough, the seals were worn and one was totally gone just like others reported, so I went ahead and ordered one of those too. The repairs were super easy. The docking station took zero tools and only a few seconds to swap out. The lower wash arm was one little nut that was easy to loosen with a pliers. The performance of the dishwasher is now MUCH more like what I was used to when it was new. 

Easily replaced with a standard socket set. Took about 2 minutes start to finish. 

Replaced lower wash arm 

Replaced worn wash impeller and replaced lower wash arm. Also cleaned suction screen below impeller assembly. After repairs we ran the Affresh Dishwasher Cleaner and now our dishwasher is working like a new one. Thank you for being so helpful in identifying the parts I needed for our model. 

I bought a new wand from Appliance Parts Pros, installed and it works great. 

Lower wash arm broken from knuckleheads misloading the silverware basket arrrrg! Replacement was easy-peasy only requiring the removal of one plastic cap nut to replace the arm. New arm and some stern looks have the dishwasher running again. Very good price and fast shipping on this part from appliancepartspros.com. 

Replaced both parts in about two minutes and tested. Lower wash arm spins now, and no longer hits the bottom rack!!!!! 

Replaced lower wash arm which was not rotating due to build up of wash detergent Replaced docking station which was not sealing properly. 

Found that the lower wash arm was rotating slowly due to Hard Water build up. Prior to replacement ran an empty load using CLR in-order to breakdown the Lime and Calcium build up. Once that was completed and rinsed (several cycles) completely, I was able to install the parts in less than 5mins. and now the Dishwasher is like new, being a 10yr. old unit. Ron 

I went to remove it to fix it but broke the arm. I bought a replacement because I broke the arm.
