How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007631 / WP312535 Fiber Washer

Opened up the cabinet to find metal shavings filling the whole bottom of the dryer. Removed the bulkhead and found the tumbler bearings were completely gone. While I had it opened, I noticed the belt was almost shot and it needed a new front felt seal and fiber washers on the rollers. I paid the extra 3 bucks for priority shipping, received the parts in a few days. It took one evening to diagnose the problem and order parts. And one evening to install the new parts. I also foil taped the joints in the 4" vent duct. The repairs were fairly easy. Saved a lot of money on professional repair. Spent about $70 in parts. The dryer is now quieter than it has been in years! Hopefully more energy efficient now too. It's about 34 years old, maybe I can get another few years out of it. 

Watched the instructional videos - easy 30 minute fix. Don't buy the washers separately, they come with the rollers. replace shafts with rollers. 

I looked up the parts on your page and watched your videos to know which ones to replace and how to do it. 

The Drum roller has a metal insert which had moved and forced the axel to rotate until it cut the Axel's threaded end off. Great delivery and service form Appliance Parts Pros. Local guy said parts were unavailable! 

Our Washer/Dryer set has been with us for our entire marriage 89-present and started to show some age. Dryer started to squeal and rumble a bit more and more as we used it...being a family of 5 it gets its use. Replaced both rollers and axles 

Right hand drum roller bushing had seized to the shaft and broken free from the roller .. left hand roller was worn out also .. disassembled and cleaned things up .. replaced drum rollers .. shafts were good after clean up .. replaced belt also .. first repair since purchased new 15 (?) years ago .. good to go for another 15 .. AppliancePartsPros.com videos were a great time saver .. second time I have used AppliancePartsPros.com .. last time I replaced the solenoid valve set on the Maytag washer .. 

Replaced baffle, rollers and belt while everything was apart. 

Replaced both idler pulleys and the drive pulley. While it was apart it just made sense to replace the belt and glad I did as it was starting to crack. Everything came apart and went back together very easily. Fave the inside of the dryer a good vacuuming while I had the cover off. 

Replaced Drum Support Roller (only one of the two bad), Dryer Drum Roller Axle, Tumbler Bearing Kit (again only one was worn), Dryer Drum Belt (since it was apart anyway). Hex Nuts and Fiber Washers as needed. Hardess part was getting belt back on idler, found pushing it up and securing with a wire tie, before putting drum back in was the best way. I'm 70 years old and it wasn't that bad of a repair.
