Steven B Iowa City , IA December 06, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Washer MVWX700XL0 Maytag mvwx700xl0 washer would not agitate splines were stripped out. Replaced wash plate. This was somewhat of a difficult fix. The bolt that held the wash plate in place twisted off when I tried to remove it. Made small 1/8" bend in end of metal coat hangers to hook into holes of old wash plate to allow it to be pulled off. Had to drill out broken bolt from agitator shaft and re tap threads. Wire brushed splines of shaft to be able to slide new wash plate into place. *NOTE* that this would not have been as difficult had the bolt not twisted off.
