First, I ordered new door latch switches, since I hadn't seen any broken pieces of the door latch bracket. When I received the new door latch switches, I tested the existing ones and they tested good. (Should have tested them before I ordered the new ones.) When I was digging around, I found a small piece ( the inside pivot) inside under the door latch bracket. I then returned (for credit) the door latch switches. and ordered the new door latch bracket. To install it, I first inserted the bracket into the switch mechanism (there was a small red button there that opens the door)then I inserted the inside pivot (Pin) and lastly, inserted the outside pivot (pin). To get that pin in, I had to pry it in with a small scewdriver. This took a few tries. then I plugged it in and IT WORKED!!
To get the external screws off required a star bit with a hole in the center.
