I had an appliance service man come and diagnose the problem since there were a few things it may have been. I was told it was the control panel and was given the cost of repair. since they did not have the part in stock I asked what the part number was because otherwise I would have to pay for another service call as well as the part. ordering the part myself saved me $104.94 between the difference in the cost of parts and an additional service call to install it.
