After determining that there was no clog I decided to replace the drain pump. I used the video as my guide. The glitch came because, as I replaced the pump just as described, the unit leaked from the seal. I uninstalled the part and noticed that the gasket was a slightly different design. I ended up adding the old gasket atop the of the replacement part and achieved a water-tight seal. It was disappointing but I was relieved that a solution was to be found so that the repair did not go on for longer than reasonable.
